Six priests and a boat (Part 2)

 In TasteHistory

Remember the six priests and their sailing trip? (Scroll up if you don’t.) Well here is how their story continued.

The next day at sunrise they walked up to the church where one of the priests, who knew the Mellieħa parish priest, walked into the rooms close by, grabbed a violin and started playing. Immediately, the youngest of the sailors joined in the singing.

For the next three days, the band of merry men and the little girl enjoyed their time swimming, fishing, hunting and eating. As they left Mellieħa, they also visited St Julian’s and the small chapel that is still found in that bay today. And on the third day they sailed back to the Grand Harbour and went back home to their normal everyday life.

Watch this space later this week for a recipe taken from a book published some years before the priests’ little adventure.
