Silver service on a moonlit night

 In TasteHistory

A few days ago we tempted your curiosity about a special dinner hosted in December 69 years ago at the Casino Maltese. So what delicacies did Earl Mountbatten and the other guests sample on that moonlit night? The menu lists Potage à la Princesse as the soup starter, Filets de poisson a la Duc de Naples as the fish dish to follow, Poulet à l’Ambassadrice for the entrée, a creamy chestnut concoction (Crème de Marrons) by way of dessert, and Croûtes à la Lyons to finish the meal beautifully. Sadly it’s impossible to travel back through time and sit at that table, but Taste History is recreating the menu served that day for private events.
